8 Day Kiliamnjaro Climbing via Machame Route Overview

Machame Route Whiskey Route” contrary to Marangu is a more difficult and does not have tourists huts for accommodations and cocacola. Is the second most popular route just after Marangu. The right route for experienced  climbers who can walk over long periods through steep slopes.  Machame has more adventure and varied sceneries but also heavy traffic.

Day 1: Transfer from teh airport to the hotel Machame cam (9,9000ft)

Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport, transfer to accommodation in Arusha, Planet Lodge with program briefing

Day 2: Registration at Machame gate and trek to

Breakfast, drive from your hotel in Moshi/Arusha to machame gate (about 45min). After about an of registration and park fees payments, start climbing along a clear trail through plantation and natural forest, thereafter a narrow forest path follows to the Machame cam (9,9000ft) B.L.D

Day 3:  Machame cam (9,9000ft) to shira camp (12,600ft)

Breakfast, ascending through the forest, steep ridge passing through heather and open moorlands, and crossing a large to shira camp (12,600ft). the distance is about 5-6 hours, B.L.D

Day 4:  shira camp (12,600ft) to Lava tower (15,1850ft)

After breakfast, we will ascend to Lava tower (15,1850ft) for dinner and overnight, B.L.D

Day 5: Climbing through  ava tower (15,1850ft) to  Barafu hut (14,910ft)

After breakfast, we leave Baranco hut for Barafu hut (14,910ft). We will pass through the last water drop at Karanga valley on the way up. Overnight Barafu camp, BL.D

Day 6:Barafu hut (14,910ft) to Uhuru peak and down to Mweka camp (10,010ft)

Wake up at midnight, and after a small snack, start ascending to Uhuru peak through the Stella point (18,640ft), then after reaching the summit, we will head down to Mweka camp (10,010ft) for dinner and overnight, B.L.D

Day 7: From Mweka camp (10,010ft) to mweka gate then to the hotel

After breakfast, we will head down to mweka gate with lunch packet, and the waiting vehicle will take you to Planet Lodge. B.L

Day 8: Transfer to the Kilimanjaro airport (JRO)

Transfer to the airport for your return flight, or proceed with the safari with us!

Climbing Prices Terms

Price Includes

Arrival and departure Kilimanjaro Airport transfers. Also, fee bust shuttle transfer Nairobi-Arusha-Nairobi if flying to /from Nairobi

Accommodation in mountain huts or mountain tents with mattresses we use the highest quality expedition tents of Eureka and MountainHardware.

Meals as indicated (B=Breakfast, L=Lunch, D=Dinner)

All park fees, including mountain rescue fees, government taxes and all applicable fees and taxes.

Services of a professional leading guide who is medically trained, certified, licensed and English speaking.

Services of English –speaking assistant guide(s), a skilled cook, and enough numbers of porters for your luggage, food, and water, and a dining tent.

Dining tent on the trek.

Transport from your hotel to the mountain, and back to your hotel

Use of radios/phones to increase your safety.

Group average of 4-6 climbers, maximum of 10

Discount is available for group of 3 or more, booking together.

Items of a person nature such as passport, visa, traveler insurance, medical evacuation insurance (a 50$value)

Tips to guides and porters

International Airfare (unless explicitly stated)

Medical Equipment which can be rented well in advance for the following costs:

$250/group for hyperbaric chamber, $210/group for an emergency Oxygen cylinder and $140/group for a stretcher.

Please not these prices include a porter to carry the equipment.
